times its regular size and can also
branch itself from multiple buds
through its own body. The budding
process is another of Hydra’s unique
abilities to produce its “mini me s”
as an act of reproducing itself. The
bud-lings are exact clones of its hydra.
Both Planarian and Hydra can go
without food for long stretches of time
over months, by merely adjusting their
body size to conserve energy. They
reduce their own body cells in order to
stay alive. In other words they eat
themselves to survive. It is fascinating
to learn about these miraculous
abilities, which these tiny organisms
have been pre-programed with
inherently. Both are way older than
humans on planet. They are also
immortals, which they owe to their
exceptional regenerative abilities.
