Artist statement
I explore landscape and its ecology. I have always found myself amazed and
inspired by the flora, foliage, ferns, petals, grass, pollen, and other aspects of
landscape. The idea being mostly around ‘Clusters and Space’ – to evoke a
sense of fluidity and boundlessness of world around us. Nature has been the
strongest influence and constituted the core of my work.
I am also interested in exploring the profundity of form and space relationship.
It brought me to ideas where one sees transcendence in the simpler forms of
life, nature and environment, in an approach to innovation that emulates
nature’s patterns and strategies. The purpose is to realize synergy and
interrelation between space and things to outgrow the notion of isolated
consciousness.
I am also interested in emotions of wonder, empathy, and euphoria. The Artist
in Residence outreach program with TIFR Bangalore (2018), is an attempt to
complement the artistic intution with the rigors of scientific method.
